C2TX Conical Twin Screw Extruders

Continuous compression, profile kneading, and maximum responsiveness with a conical twin screw extruder.

 

The intermeshing co-rotating conical screws of our C2TX have a unique profile that kneads the dough mass as it is forced through the length of the barrel. Thus, a low density mix at the extruder inlet transforms into a higher density product at the discharge to the die.

 

  • Screw speed can be adjusted from 500 to 1,200 RPM during operation

  • Extremely responsive to process variables such as screw speed, recipe moisture, recipe temperature, cook in the preconditioner, and the effect of the back pressure valve (BPV).

  • Highly versatile design enables changes in process variables to have an immediate and controllable impact on product density, cell structure, surface texture, and color without changing the extruder die or screw components.

  • The shorter (twin) screw shafts and screws of the C2TX make alignment easier and reduces metal to metal contact - resulting in less wear on the screws which means longer useful life and reduced maintenance costs.

  • Two models available:

    • 8.1 - max capacity 8000 kg/hr

    • 16.2 - max capacity 16000 kg/hr

Increase Product Options by Combining the C2TX with Wenger's BPV

 

Using Wenger's Back Pressure Value (BPV) along with the C2TX conical screw configuration enables production of many types of products through the die without major changes to the extruder or the recipe: 

  • A mostly closed BPV can enable a highly expanded product with lower density
  • An open BPV can minimize expansion while increasing product density

These changes can occur while the C2TX is in operation, and without changing the die, providing maximum flexibility for an extrusion operator to produce the exact product needed.

Addtionally, the BPV allows non-spec product to be diverted during start-up and shut-down. Learn more about the BPV
